The meeting opened with a moment of silence.

Check in sentence:
Jane Drexler – Unfortunately must have to work today, but I have been nominated to be the Australian representative on the FPT Council. Yearly Meeting is this coming week but I am not going. The timing does not suit me and it is in Tasmania which is a fair distance away and the cost high. I will confirm the appointment after YM. In friendship, Jane
Nadine Hoover – Doing well – completed 9 days of training. Felice joined by Skype. Keidi and Eric and Felice are at Peace Place. Training included a AVP Basic, Trauma recovery and resiliency, liberation from prejudice and privilege, the liberty of conscience and discernment. Community events next week on Power of Goodness
Gay Howard I just got back from Yearly Meeting, which was good.
Valerie Joy – I am glad you have chosen Zoom, which I have used in the Australia network AVP meetings. I will be at Yearly Meeting and am not sure whether I can miss that particular session. Wishing you a problem free transition to this technology, Valerie
At AYM in Tasmania – it’s very cold. There are 2 Korean Quaker AVP facilitators that are making good contributions.
Fenna Mandolang: Hosted 9 guests in her new home.
Tom Martin – The F2F in Olympia Washington was particularly invigorating for me, and the presence of both Nadine and John was just wonderful for us all. Reports of the 6-day Intensive in Alfred was very positive. GO AWP. Cheers, Tom
John Michaelis Spokane, WA at my son’s. Great to be with the family, including my wife. Ran a neat concert in Sydney with three choirs. Raised 1,300 AUD. Disappointed by turnout, but still enjoyable effort.
Petrus – Two guests from Germany. He has been working in a Muslim Island Area (NTT) where the rights of women including marrying very young girls is a concern. Even though it’s Ramadan, they have been able to facilitate short workshops in Tandamulio and other areas. They were able to facilitate a workshop with about 40 people with Mennonites that was much appreciated.
Vidya Sutton Working with AVP in Sydney and in Newcastle. Also with AVP training and National gathering at Silver Wattle.
Deb Wood – (present but had tech problems)
Jenna Morales – Warm in Rochester.

Reports:
Initiative Coordinators:
Subbash has a hyperthyroid condition that is affecting his energy . He has pulled out of a Nepal trip this year. Making other work, including some FPT work, a priority. Unable to do as much with low energy. Also has to concentrate on treatment and getting his health in order.

Communications:
In June, in addition to the regular tasks, I researched Skype alternatives, managed the distribution of promotional materials to YM reps, backed up the files on Google docs and started to clean up the AWP Access document.

Requests for the Working Group
• Review the Office Handbook
• If you are planning on attending your Yearly Meeting this summer, please let me know so I can send you FPT-AWP materials to share.
• I would like to pair up each Working Group member with at least one Sustainer to help with sharing news and giving reminders of their annual donation.

I’m very sorry my plans haven’t allowed me to come visit Aceh yet – it’s still on my list of things to do! I’m in the U.S. right now, but hope to have time in the fall to travel around the region and explore programs like yours.
In the meantime, I’d like to introduce a colleague – Agnes Chen
Joanne replied that she will plan a trip in the future, maybe next year

Agnes Chen 6/30/16
Salam sejahtera dari Harrisonburg, VA. :)
Sangat senang untuk “bertemu” dengan anda melalui email. :) Nama saya Agnes dan saya aslinya dari Jakarta, Indonesia. I am currently a master’s student at Eastern Mennonite University studying “Conflict Transformation”, where I met Joanne through a summer class! I am so excited that she’s introduced me to you all. Last semester, I participated in an Alternatives to Violence Project at a state prison in Graterford, Pennsylvania. It was an amazing experience, and I would love to learn about the AVP programs in Indonesi!
Saya harap kami akan tetap berhubungan melalui email atau Skype. Terima kasih dan sekian email saya. Tuhan berkati. :)
Dengan hormat, Agnes

Nadine is in email contact with Agnes.

Sustainers due (contact month listed as June):

Decisions/Actions:
Recording Clerk
Margie Hunter has stepped down as recording clerk. Valerie volunteered to take minutes. Good for there to be two volunteers to back each other up. If there are any other suggestions, please email Fenna.

Legal Status of Peace Place
Currently, Peace Place is an association. And associations can own land, but it is not a legally sound and enforced arrangement. We are not a foundation, which has a stronger legal structure for owning land. It has been recorded in a legal letter that the land is being bought in Petrus and Nanik in the name of Peace Place with specific enumerated purposes, not for inheritance, transferred to Peace Place if Petrus and Nanik cannot continue. We are working towards a foundation, but to have a foundation you have to have a certain number of people. And we are still building those people. We are using Quaker business practice, which other NGOs are not using. People need to practice it before they understand. We haven’t wanted to move to the level of foundation until the people involved demonstrate they understand the Quaker business practice. I respect and understand this question. Assets can cause division. This is why we made a contract with the attorney that says the land can only be used for Peace Place purposes. Our vision for Peace Place is not easily established quickly. Once we have built the foundational capacity, then the ownership of the land would be transferred to Peace Place.

Petrus will send Nadine the legal letter that was submitted with the land purchase. Nadine will translate and then send it on to Chris Hughes, Valerie Joy, and Vidya Sutton.

AFSC sent a staff person to the 9 day training, who left positively.

Zoom feedback
Translating difficult in chat area.
iPhone added to first line because an iPhone can connect that way, too.
Add way to join with iPad to meeting invite.
Deb did not receive the google doc; no history in chat area.

Closing word:
Nadine Hoover – love the participation
Gay Howard -go on!
Valerie Joy – eternally hopeful
Fenna Mandolang – home
Jenna Morales – making connections
Petrus – joined together
Vidya Sutton – thank you for having me
Deb Wood – Aaargh!
