Check in sentence:
Alma “Kins” Aparece- we just had three workshops and before we had two. We have two more one in Manila and the other in (the Philippines)
Frence Boiser – My regrets. I am currently working on in our preparations for a world conference hosted by our organization.
Maxine Claire Cooper-
Joe DiGarbo- No longer part of FPT-AWP; doing his work with support from his monthly meeting Lancaster Friends Meeting, PA, PYM.
Shawna Doran-Had a great electrical storm experience.
Jane Drexler-All going well this year. Money for Nepal relief keeps coming in. Really looking forward and happy to be working with John on Fund raising.
Anne Eggleton-
Nadine Hoover-We just installed 5 of the 23 stories of The Power of Goodness at Alfred University. It was great to have this preview opportunity, since it required a lot of revisions and edits. Nanik and I continue to verify her translations of the Power of Goodness stories and Quaker materials and support Petrus. He is now working formally 15 hours per month for Friends Peace Teams AWP and 15 hours per month for AVP to try to develop the capacity to have a national Indonesia AVP office. I’ve also been busy supporting the Nepal Relief as I can. Peacebuilding UK has invited me to come to the Ukraine to attend the Little Star Chechen training team’s training in August, but I don’t have dates yet.
Gay Howard-Yearly meeting is coming up next week. Motivated by Nadine’s letter/request to other yearly meetings. We are going to get US$750 dollars from yearly meeting for a first time donation. Tom formally asked for it. No interest group table this year but continuing to work with Pacific Yearly Meeting.
Chris Hughes-
Margie Hunter-Super Excited! Offered a new job last week. :)
Valerie Joy-Sally Hurtzfeld and I are enjoying the hospitality and have toured prisons and will be having dinner with a future facilitator from India. Went to Golden Links primary school. Happy to be on the call.
Subhash Kattel-Very happy to have the relief fund from Friends Peace Teams. Much larger than expected. Thankful to everyone who worked hard to make it happen. Home now playing with my new son and enjoying the family after being away for three months. Exploring where and when we can continue to provide relief. AVP workshops planned to start Saturday and are preparing. Hosting AVP facilitator.
Fenna Mandolang-I am appreciating life and good health.
Tom Martin-Getting ready to fly to New York City with family and heading up to Cape Cod. Also asked to do a forum in August at his Meeting on “Where Our Service Work Comes From”. Concentrating on service work and recognizing gifts.
John Michaelis-Back from hiking the Atlas Mountains an 18 day hike. Since returning my choir has volunteered to do a fundraiser on the 26th of this month. Busy doing publicity hoping to get a reasonable amount of people. Also celebrating my 70th Birthday.
Jim Palmer-
Petrus – Sorry tomorrow morning I cannot join the Skype call because I was invited from the advocacy network for the Kendeng Mountain by Wahana, the environmental group of WALHI. For your information, since 2006, an investor wants to mine the Kendeng Mountains in Pati for a cement factory, but local communities reject this. In fact, in 2010, nine community members were imprisoned for withholding the field monitoring survey report. The problems of Kendeng Mountain are still very strong, because the investor has now received government support. At this time, our environmental activist friends are trying to consolidate with the local community to organize resistance. Checking in over email: I am well. This month we contacted AVP training alumni around Pati to talk about how to strengthen our AVP facilitators’ team. We also invested in developing our AVP network by sending information about AVP to ANSOR in Jepara, Central Java. ANSOR is an organisation under Nadatul Ulama (NU), a traditional Muslim Organisation in Indonesia. One of their leading figures is Gus Dur. Greetings with Love, Petrus
Ludwig bon Quirog-We just finished the third of five workshops and had a friend pass away last night. Feeling groggy but doing fine.
Nick Rozard-Life is going pretty well. Driving the school bus for the last few months and with summer break I’ve found another job in addition to water filters. Going to visit sister and cousins in Philly area for small reunion.
Heri Wibowo-
Deb Wood-Gave talk about time in Nepal at residents of her adult community. People seemed impressed with AVP and some people have asked for info about contributing to Nepal Relief. Things are going well.
Cecilia Yocum
Vickie Aldrich

Questions and Feedback on News and Updates:
Indonesia – no update this month
Nepal – no update this month
Philippines – no update this month
Power of Goodness – no update this month
Water Filters – no update this month

Reports:
Initiative Coordinators: no report
John reports: Been working on improving the website, making changes to photos and other items that took time.
Communications: Jenna Morales reports:
I completed the June donor mailing, putting the envelopes in the mail on June 1st.

Aside from the routine tasks I did a full Google Doc back-up this month. It takes a few hours to get all the docs (I usually only back up the regularly updated links). I do a full backup about every 6 months to be sure I haven’t missed any changes in the older links on the Access page. I have also been keeping up with requests for materials for YMs: contacting reps, printing, and mailing materials. It is somewhat expensive to print flyers locally but after this round I should have a good idea of how many of each material people will want. If annual posters and needs flyers are created in the late fall, I will better know the quantities that will likely be needed and be able to have these printed at a print shop in future years.

FPT Council: Report to AWP Working Group on the FPT Council call of 6/20/15 Friends received a terrific report on fundraising from Kirsten Mandala, FPT Communications Specialist. We shared this with the working group for its valuable insights and wisdom. There was a concern raised about the AWP acronym since FWCC uses that same one. Have we changed ours to FPT-AWP, trying to always combine with FTP when we use AWP? The Council has arranged for its archives to be housed at the Friends Historical Library in Swarthmore PA. FPT-AWP is invited to share our archives there as well. Our contact with the Library is Gay Howard.

Resources Needed:
Fund Jamuna Shrestha to visit Bhutanese refugees resettled in the US (US$2,400) hopefully after May 2015. Baltimore would probably be one of the three communities scheduled for the visit.
Support an Afghani women’s rights activist to join the International Workshop in Java (US$2,000) early in 2016!
Support two West Papuan trainers to share their training in Java (US$3,300) would be best in early in 2016!
Build Peace Place in Java as a Friends presence and training site (US$300/yr for up to 3 yrs). Thanks to AVP-Korea for contributing US$300 towards developmental toys at Peace Place.
Purchase land beside the Friends’ Guest House and Peace Place in Java (US$20,000)! Chris Hughes is working on strategy to find money for this.

Decisions/Actions:
Friends Journal Renewal – If we want to keep the current schedule, we need to renew our contract with Friends Journal by August 1, 2015. Do we want to continue?
Our most recent contract details: August 2014 contract for 1 col x 1” DISPLAY AD for 6 issues running from October 2014 through September 2015. *Ads to run every other issue. $59 per ad.
The clerk hears approval for continuing with the print ad, with a request to have online added to the contract.

Fall PeaceWays – The guidelines for the upcoming fall PeaceWays has been disseminated. The theme is still being discussed and refined, something like “Responding to Crises” or “Big Challenges.” Are there are any volunteers on the call to work on the upcoming article? Any suggestions of those not on the call who may want to contribute by working on the article?
Dates of note: 9/15/15 – contributors may start sending articles
9/25/15 – deadline for all material to editor: text, pictures, captions
Valerie and Ludwig volunteer to contribute to an article.

Development of the work and synchronization is a continued effort.

Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) World Plenary Meeting (International Representatives Meeting – IRM), which will be held in Pisac, Peru, from 19 to 27 January 2016.
