The meeting opened with a moment of silence.

Check in sentence:
Kins Aparece – will not be able to join because she is traveling.
Dwight Burton – wrote and sends his regrets that he can not continue on the Working Group at this time, but appreciates all our persistence in trying to include him. With his current work and family schedule, he’s too busy to be engaged, but hopes to come back to it at some point.
Jane Drexler-I see the lawyer friday for final steps of registration for Peace Teams in Australia. Name was accepted as is. Small amendments made to constitution. Provision for dispute resolution was needed and added. Two to three weeks of processing will result in completion of registration.
Anne Eggleton
Nadine Hoover – in Baruk Induk without internet
Gay Howard-Looks like much to my surprise Pacific Yearly Meeting will donate to Friends Peace Teams, will speak to the finance clerk. I’m working on the website for Friends Peace Teams with the communications committee. Peacebuilding en las Américas (PLA) will be getting a website soon.
Margie Hunter-Please review the poster emailed to you. Needs the spring cold she got to go by quickly.
Valerie Joy – Hopes to be joining later in the call.
Fenna Mandolang – I have to go to court on May 5th, which is the date of our next call.
Tom Martin – I will be in NYC on business and shall do my best to be on the Call because the fellowship and the news of peacework that Friends bring nurtures and empowers me.
John Michaelis- Last day of a training for facilitators, and needs rabies injection before so schedule is tight. Just back from midwest Nepal. Feed back from a university member stated he learned more in eight days than in years. University would like to be apart of experiential learning. Looking forward to the last day. Doing 15 workshops while there, splitting into two groups and going out into the villages. At the stage where benefits are being reaped from the years of work in Nepal.
Petrus – received a last minute invitation to a SHEEP workshop, so he is unable to join us today. He is healthy, but on the 5th of March, Nanik’s father passed away and then on the 7th, Nadine arrived to start the AVP workshops at Peace Place.
Nick Rozard-Things are going well. Most of my time is spent on water filters. The microbiology lab has been upgraded from four to 22 samples per week. cutting the testing time in more than half. This past weekend I helped a local family build a timber frame barn with people power.
Deb Wood-I got back from Nepal friday. It was a very rewarding experience, loved the team and workshops went well. Back home trying to do a months worth of manipulating things left at home for the past. Was great to be in Nepal.

Initiative Coordinators:
Our name, Friends Peace Teams – Asia West Pacific, has been approved in Australia, and we are one step closer to receiving our Australian Business Number and official registration.
Jane Drexler continues to follow up on our relationship with FWCC. Next she will be responding to Anna Wilkinson in writing via the Australian YM secretary as requested by FWCC.
As translation is one of our top priorities (see Four Top Priorities of FPT AWP), the coordinators are asking Jenna to look into an opportunity for free translation brought to our attention by Mary Watkins. There is a group in Ireland under the Rosetta Foundation that does free translations in many languages if you join their organization (free) as a nonprofit and then upload documents for translation. At, they have a team of over 4000 translators from many countries who volunteer to do the translations. This may or may not be a good match for us, but if it is promising upon further examination, more details will be brought before the working group.

Most of my work this month has been routine tasks along with a few other items including looking into translation options, working with Margie and Frence on a poster for the upcoming Yearly Meetings, and working with Kirsten Mandala on a new FPT brochure.

Paul Culley- call next month for money promised, Nick will follow up next month.

Jane Simpkin-At the end of the year she thinks she put all money to Water Filters

Martha Baer to be added to next months to be contacted list.

Frence shares his great experience with completing three AVP workshops
Valerie has been doing AVP in Lisbon and following the Indonesian workshops. Going to be in the Philippines soon to join the group.
Deb was blown away by the Backhouse Lecture by Sally Herzfeld and would like to pass on that she was moved.
