Yuyun’s Artist Scholarship

In September 2012, Friends Peace Teams in Asia West Pacific awarded Yunardi Bardo (Yuyun) a one-year, half-time scholarship to study English and illustrate developmental storybooks for children. Yuyun reports below on how his first month has gone.

I started working in my own studio. This is the studio that I made at home where I am making children’s books and illustrations. The 28th of September I went to Pati, to visit Peace Place and Pak Petrus’ family.
Bulan September 2012 Yuyun memulai bekerja di studio sendiri, dan ini adalah studio yang saya buat di rumah, guna untuk membuat desain buku anak- anak dan bekerja pada hal ilustrasi yang lain.Yuyun pergi ke Pati, untuk berkunjung di Peace Place dan keluarga Bapak Petrus di Pati.

These are students in Peace Place. Yufa and Afif are moving water from a bucket to the larger holding pool in the messy-play center at Peace Place, accompanied by Ms. Nanik and Ms. Utami.

Mereka adalah siswa PAUD yang berada di Peace Place, Yufa dan Afif sedang bermain memindahkan air dari ember ke tempat derigen di sentra alam Peace Place, yang di damping oleh Ibu Nanik dan ibu Utami.

Rena, siswa PAUD di Peace Place yang telah bermain pasir di setra alam Peace Place.

Pora and Rena are playing blocks and Lea is playing with puzzles behind them. Pora enjoys playing with blocks and wants to make a city with a palace. Rena helps work on one side.

Dava was really enjoying pretending to cook food by himself. He is pretending to be a chef preparing dishes and offering food to friends playing in other centers.

Dava, sedang asik bermain masak- masakan sedirian, dia bermain layaknya seorang koki yang sedang menyiapkan masakan, juga menawarkan masakannya pada teman yang lain saat teman bermain di sentra lain.

Dava, Nanda, and Yufa enjoy playing in the messy-play center, especially with sand. Nanda and Dava play with a truck, while Yufa tries to move the sand from one place to another.

Field trips to observe surrounding areas, include all the teachers and students at Peace Place.

Kegiatan jalan-jalan untuk mengamati lingkungan sekitar, di lakukan oleh seluruh guru dan siswa di Peace Place.

 

Alya, Dani, Wishnu and Nanda. After-school tutoring students learn to read and write at Peace Place under the supervision of Ms. Nanik as their teacher from 1:00 – 2:30pm.

These are a few 3rd and 4th grade students learning basic English under the supervision of Ms. Nanik and Ms. Mira from 3:00 – 4:00pm at Peace Place.

Beberapa siswa yang belajar bahasa Inggris dasar, siswa yang hadir antara kelas 3-4 sekolah dasar. Kegiatan ini di bimbing Ibu Nanik dan Ibu Mira sebagai guru dan mulai pada pukul 15.00 WIB- 16.00 WIB di Peace Place.

 

Tutoring activities carried out in the afternoon from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Peace Place for older students.

Kegiatan bimbingan belajar yang di laksanakan pada sore hari Pukul 16.00 WIB- 18.00 WIB di Peace Place.
